Peter Erklauer, MS, SLP-CCC Bilingual
Peter is a co-founder and Director of CBS Therapy and a Bilingual Speech-language Pathologist. Peter has worked in a variety of clinical settings with clients ranging in age from infant to adult. He recently helped develop a program to provide intensive interventions to bilingual preschool students to determine the need for further special education services. He also presents professional developments on a variety of topics, including phonemic awareness, bilingual language acquisition, and using the iPad in clinical service delivery. Aside from continuing as a practicing SLP and Director of CBS Therapy, Peter is the President at 2T Technology, where he continues to work on The Color Association Protocol Program for Reading Success—an innovative and comprehensive phonemic awareness program that incorporates iPad technology into teaching the fundamentals of reading. In his down time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and boating in Narragansett Bay, RI.
Mike Smith, MS, SLP-CCC Bilingual
Michael Smith is a co-founder and Director of CBS Therapy and a Bilingual Speech-language Pathologist. Mike has worked in a variety of settings, from acute to long term care to schools (K-12) and early intervention programs, providing bilingual speech and language pathology evaluations and treatments. He has designed, implemented, and supervised bilingual curricula and is a frequent presenter on bilingual language development as well as integration of iPads and touch technology in an academic setting. Mike currently serves on the National Speech and Language Advisory Board for Pearson Assessments and participated in the development and standardization of their Preschool Language Scales 5th Edition in Spanish (PLS-5 Sp). He is a board member of the Allison Keller Education Technology Program and Joey's Fund through the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism. Mike is the head of technical development for 2T Technology, a branch of CBS Therapy where he has helped to develop a comprehensive phonemic awareness program (the CAP Program for Reading Success) that integrates with iPad, Android, and web-based technology into service delivery. He has also co-authored a bilingual language development text book. In his free time, Mike continues to dabble in music where he plays guitar and lap steel in several bands (e.g., The Flutie Brothers Band, Ayla Brown, Yom Hadash, The Mudhens) and plays baseball in the MABL and the BABL.
Michelle Gonzalez Smith, President
Michelle comes to CBS Therapy with a background as a professional Engineer. She spent over 15 years developing and managing business solutions for several high tech companies specially in the area of developing digital media. She holds a degree in industrial engineering from the Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City, where she was born and raised. She also holds an MBA from Boston College and has been integral in developing the CBS business model as well as handling all of the internal accounting for the business. In her free time from CBS Therapy, Michelle is a yoga instructor and enjoys reading and running.
Maria Erklauer, Vice President
Maria has extensive experience with Project Management, Property Acquisition/Maintenance, and Vendor Relations. She brings to the company a successful track record in the construction, real estate and restaurant industries. Maria was an integral part of identifying, negotiating and acquiring CBS Therapy’s new location at 626 Park Avenue, Cranston, RI. Maria is an Alumna of Universidad del Valle, where she studied psychology.
